Our client bid for the 28-year concession to finance, redevelop and operate the two main airports in Madagascar at Antananarivo (capital city) and Nosy Be (its main tourist destination).
We acted as Traffic Advisor to the client throughout the transaction. Our primary role was the development of an extensive suite of long-term annual air traffic forecasts (passengers, movements, cargo), complemented by analysis of the passenger and airline market in Madagascar, including the prospects for new international route development recognising the tourism potential of the country.
Our role also included extensive interaction with lenders and their advisors.
Successes and outcomes
Our forecasts were an important part of the inputs used in the client’s bid model, which in turn was a key element in their successful acquisition of the airports.
Redevelopment of the airports will include renovation of the existing domestic terminal and construction of a new international terminal at Antananarivo and full refurbishment of the runway and existing passenger terminal at Nosy Be.
