The future of transport in Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes Council has appointed leading transport consultancy Steer Davies Gleave to develop a world class transport vision and strategy for their third round Local Transport Plan.

The Local Transport Plan will integrate transport into the strong housing and employment growth plans for Milton Keynes and local policy, such as the Council’s Sustainable Community Strategy and emerging planning policy documents.  The plan will also provide an opportunity to address wider aspirations on economic development, tackling climate change, social inclusion, quality of life, road safety, health and the natural environment. Key stakeholder involvement will be pivotal to the development of the plan.

MKC’s Assistant Director of Transport, Alex Constantinides, said, “These are exciting times for Milton Keynes. We want to develop a vision for the future of transport in the Borough that is truly world class and is in line with Milton Keynes’ unique character. It must meet the needs of existing residents and businesses, while at the same time accommodate future needs arising from the ambitious housing and employment growth that we are planning. It is important that effective transport provision is an integral part of new developments from the start."
